MURMUR

Solo Show

by Emilie Tarp Østensgård

September 28 - October 14, 2023

We at Bladr are pleased to present the solo exhibition MURMUR by visual artist Emilie Tarp Østensgård. The exhibition is rooted in Østensgård's interest in the complexity of nature and our way of relating to these natural surroundings. Through a series of new works, the concept of biomimicry is explored; how we can learn from and mimic the ways of being in the world of other species. Central to the visual world of the exhibition is the bird, presented in a series of pastel drawings.

Fragments of letters from the Latin alphabet can be seen in a sculptural work—a visual dissolution of human language, which has been the focal point of Østensgård's practice in recent years. The exhibition builds upon this existing practice with an interest in human language as a tool for understanding. At the same time, the works and the exhibition MURMUR mark a shift in Emilie's practice, where the focus expands and turns from human language towards other types of voices and communication.

As part of the exhibition, it will be possible to browse through a selection of books that have been significant to the artist's work
