DU JAG SOMEONE SOMETHING

Solo Show

by Kristina Bengtsson

curated by Rebecca Krasnik

November 3 - November 19, 2022

“Du Jag Someone Something” is an exhibition by Kristina Bengtsson dealing with work, authorship and the construction of (a) self. New works are combined in an installation specifically made for Bladr which imagines a shift in agency from human to machine.

In the context of the exhibition, an artist discussion is conducted between Thomas Millroth and Kristina Bengtsson, on Saturday, 12 November.

The artist book, LJ 1300 gives voice to a laser printer that has decided to become a maker instead of a facilitator. By refusing to print what has been decided by others, it explores the potential of a free and unknown path. Through a series of short texts, the printer expresses an ambivalence about who has the right to choose what they do with their time and kindly asks us to look elsewhere if a regular printing job is required. I’s is a series of fingerprint drawings, which speak specifically about identification while questioning its limits. The sculpture Step does the opposite - by being a footprint in soil with no clear identification.

Kristina Bengtsson is an artist born in Lund and living in Copenhagen since 2010. She studied at Lunds University, Glasgow School of Art and the Academy of Visual Arts, Leipzig. Working with photography, text and sculpture Bengtsson explores the intersection between language, society and identity. She believes the materials she works with come with their own logic and that there is value in the humility that these limitations entail.
