ATLANTIC LOWS by Linn Henrichson
ATLANTIC LOWS
Solo Show
by Linn Henrichson
April 18 - May 4, 2024
Bladr is happy to announce the exhibition “Atlantic Lows” by Linn Henrichson, opening Thursday 18th of April 17-20h.
The exhibition centers around myths and symbolism connected to the weather and the complexities it carries as a subject. By examining the visual and linguistic representation of how storms are expressed in media and scientific discourse, the work explores the poetic potential behind our communication about weather phenomena. The works are made based on collected images and data from the 2023–2024 European windstorm season. Through processes of distorting, redrawing and collaging existing visual material, the works can be viewed as portraits, playing with the notion of how society imbues storms with an anthropomorphic agency by ascribing human names to them. The exhibition also marks the release of an artists’ book under the same title. The production for the exhibition has been developed during a five-week artist residency at Frans Masereel Centrum in Belgium, a center for contemporary art with a specific focus on printmaking.
Linn Henrichson (born in Helsinki, FI, 1993) is a visual artist and designer, working within the fields of painting, textile production, and printmaking.
