I DON'T THINK I WAS THE SAME... by Lise Saxtrup

"I don't think you were the same and now I wonder was I?"

Lise explains: "What seems logical and meaningful to one can be the opposite to others. I have always been fascinated by “the real”. This is what I make film about, make games about and photograph. How we make sense even with only glimpses of elements, originated from all kinds of places and experiences. The stories and images we have in our heads are truly our own, until we show them and find out that our unique expression can also mean something to others."

"I don’t think you were the same and now I wonder was I?" is a reflection on a relation that changed - and Lise wonders why.

Lise has been working on the book for 4 years and the process of taking it from dummy to artist book has been ongoing for the past year. "I don't think you were the same and now I wonder was I?" was shortlisted for the prestigious photobook award Kassel Dummy Award 2019 (Fotobookfestival) and consists of 3 hand sewn booklets in a slipcase. It is co-published with Copenhagen-based nano-publisher Blankt Papir Press, hand-made, signed and numbered by the artist herself and comes out in a limited edition run of 60 copies. Printed on Munken Pure White 120 gr., in time the pages will yellow and fade, just like our memories.
