Time for the person... by Rebecca Krasnik

Time for the person on the railway platform, standing on one leg to tie their shoe

Solo Show and book release

by Rebecca Krasnik

April 30 – May 30, 2020

In this exhibition, the book is dissolved and its pages flutter freely on the walls of Bladr. The 72 book pages are from the book Behind Schedule in Front of Time, published in connection with the exhibition. Through two fragmented photographs and a non-linear narrative, two often incompatible perceptions of time are juxtaposed – on the one hand, time as an inner physiological and psychological experience, and on the other hand, as a conversation between people, represented by the clock as the correct time.

The title of the exhibition Time for the Person on the Railway Platform, Standing on One Leg to Lace Their Shoe, is inspired by the poem Time passes Time by the Canadian poet Anne Carson.

This first edition of the book is produced in 12 copies – one for each number of the face of a clock. The book consists of 72 loose Xerox-printed pages, assembled in a hand-folded cover with a unique stencil-printed front cover.

Rebecca Krasnik holds an MFA from School of Visual Arts (New York City, US) and a BA from University of Westminster (London, UK). Through her work with photography, video, text, and 3D computer-generated imagery, Rebecca Krasnik explores different perceptions of time.

The book is partly developed and produced during a residency in October 2019 at the Vermont Studio Center supported by the Statens Kunstfond. The exhibition is supported by Foghts Fond.
